About: San Diego Vacation 2022
It was the Knight (Miller, McConnel) family vacation summer - and we chose San Diego! Todd and I hadn't been there since Liam was an infant, and we were looking forward to taking the kids to the theme parks there and seeing the ocean. Mom and Dad rented a big, nice house a short walk from the beach, and honestly the weather couldn't have been better.
Even when it was overcast, the beach was lovely to walk along. We found that it wasn't too long of a walk from the house down here.
These two girls enjoyed the backyard with it's swing set, hot tub, and yard games.
We did some sight seeing at Point Loma University.
And took this picture... just in case
Not a terrible place to learn
One of our big goals while here was to go to SeaWorld - which we had such fond memories of from our childhood.
Seeing the animals was fantastic, but the experience did not live up to our expectations overall - although the littler kids enjoyed it!
Plus, those metal bleacher/stadiums were like ovens, and not one of us made it through the day without a sunburn.
This was the view from our rental house, just above the hot tub - blue skies!!!
Unwilling photo subjects at Old Town
Our other big to-do was the San Diego Zoo - and this absolutely exceeded our expectations!
Sky Buckets are always a highlight
This child wanted a picture with ev-er-y-thing
This child did not
This child wanted to be just like her cousin - I bet you can guess which one
We got the money shot!
Those clouds
Honestly, the weather was perfect, the animals were incredible, the zoo was impeccably well kept, the food was fantastic! We did it all and were wiped, but decided we wanted to close out the park so we drove to a quick fish taco place nearby, and then returned. We all split up to go re-visit the thing/s we enjoyed the most - Liam and Poppa did the sky buckets several times, and enjoyed the atmosphere. Nana, Todd, and the kids went to see the hippos again. Jen, Grant, Everett, and I went back to the tiger - who was very vocal, and active, and got right up close to us. It felt like the zoo was empty at the point, which we enjoyed. The zoo at witching-hour was beyond description.
We spent an afternoon at Balboa Park
Had some absolutely delicious pizza etc., with an incredible view
The last day we took all the kids down to the beach to put their feet in the water - but they ended up throwing themselves into waves and swimming in their clothes. They had a blast, and we wished we had brought swimsuits and come to the beach earlier in the week!
What a day!!
What a week!!
What a vacation!
