Last vacation...

With only 3 weeks left of summer (pause for a moment of silence)... we took our last little vacation - another road trip, to Washington this time - maybe the last one now that my parents have their house in Nampa and have sold their Bremerton house - to close in less than 3 weeks! It seems we brought the sunshine with us, and it was quite warm too. We got in some of our favorite places: Trader Joe's, Panera Bread, Poulsbo, church, and of course home.
The first day we went miniature golfing, Liam's first time - he did pretty well, just got a little grumpy half-way through, probably since he had no nap the day before. Nana tries to help - but he's 2 and he's pretty much just going to do it his own way... you know the drill - "by. my. SELF."
He does like to help in the "garden" - any yard is a garden, by the way. The second picture is bigger because I loooooove it.
The Skype attempt with GG and Tessa was an epic fail, but he talked Great-Grandpa & Gramma's ears off on the phone... note the awesome bedhead (the grilled cheese wasn't for breakfast, it was just there because he didn't eat it the night before). And another large picture, because it's just so adorable - did I mention that I love my new camera? Not all the pictures are from the new one- and you can probably tell which ones weren't.
The guys did lots of competitive sports - Wii baseball, bowling, and frisbee golf...
On our last day there we had the absolute privilege of going over to my parents' friend's house on the water - specifically at low tide so we could play! It was gorgeous and we had so much fun playing with the Spragues, who met us there. It did take Liam a while to warm up to walking on the rocky beach and getting his hands dirty... but when doesn't it take Liam a while to warm up to something new?
He did squeeze a few piggy back rides out of Nana.
Initially, Liam and Lucas were only interested in playing with the buckets and shovels.
But then the boys discovered crabs - you could find at least 10 of them if you turned over a big rock.
Moon snails are gross, but Liam was brave enough to touch it... once.
And this is moon snail excrement - neither boy looks overly thrilled.
Ethan found a clam!
Auntie Katie was the first one to make Liam bust a gut, and looks like she's still got the touch.
This is the Jen & Grant portion of the blog - they took the kayaks out and enjoyed the water... from the water. It was certainly warm out - I even sunburned myself a little, so we went up into the yard and rested under a nice shade tree. Lots of snacks and wrestling.
Liam picks up where daddy left off.
This is as close as you'll get to seeing me in a picture... only 9 weeks to go!!! (Baby's about 3 1/2 lbs. and getting ready to go through a growth spurt, I'm measuring right on schedule.. *sigh*)
Overall it was a great trip, bittersweet, because we all know it will be our last time in that house, and maybe our last time in Bremerton - or at least we know we won't be back for quite a while and it won't be the same. Thankfully we had this trip planned, because if we had put it off we may have not been able to go at all! Wish my parents luck and a visit from the packing fairies!
