The Disneyland Round-up...
I guess I'm as recovered as I'm going to get - we've been back a week and it's the first day I didn't need a nap (much of that is also due to an exhausting week-before-Christmas-break-crazy class). I don't know exactly how I'm going to set this story up since so much happened... I guess I'll start with the weather.
It was perfect! Sunny, warm, not a cloud in the sky or a drop of rain... although Todd will say it was just a little too warm for him, I'm sure it was at least 85 degrees our last day there, maybe we were all just a little warm, but we're not complaining! Especially when the weather this last weekend in SoCal was/is massive rain storm with flooding amounts of rain every day... shoo! we dodged that bullet!
Liam was SUCH a good boy, he didn't mind his stroller, he didn't mind walking and holding hands, he took naps on the go. We only had a bit of trouble with sleeping at night. Being in one room all together is just hard for Liam. He's normally a great sleeper - but that takes place in a dark room, all to himself, with a Scentsy pot and a noise machine. If you remember what happened to us in Maui, you'll not be surprised. The first night, Liam was so exhausted from travel and poop (more on that later) that he slept quite well in his port-a-crib after, that is, we turned on the bathroom light when he screamed bloody murder as we turned out the lights and it was pitch black in the room. The second night started out well but Liam was breathing strangely, almost croupy sounding, and when I made Todd go check on him he woke up and would NOT go back to sleep. We eventually pulled him into bed with us and he played happily until about oh 4 or 5 am. That was not fun. The last two nights were better, he slept with us both nights but at least he slept.
As for rides / characters / attractions / shows - Liam pretty much loved them all. Jungle Cruise, it's a small world, the train, Buzz Lightyear, Peter Pan and the other dark rides, Winnie the Pooh, the Haunted Mansion. The only things he didn't go on were things that he wasn't allowed to or things that none of us went on. He wasn't a fan of the 2 little drops of Pirates and going around on Dumbo (I'm with ya there kid). He was fascinated by the characters, we only got to meet Mickey and you saw the results of that :-). He LOVED the fireworks ("BOOM! Get it, get it, get it!"). And he sat still for a full 50 minutes during the Aladdin musical! This is a kid who really doesn't sit still for anything for that length of time. I really couldn't have asked for more.
We always have a fabulous time at Disneyland. Having a kid definitely has changed the way we approach our DLR vacations, but it makes so many things more special too. It was just so fun to see Liam taking everything in, being excited about things, trying new treats, seeing new sights. It was also really fun to be with our whole family and have these experiences together.
And it was nice to have extra help with the poop. Yeh, you'll have to come back later for that story... ;-)
