Summer Week 5: Independence Day etc.

Good golly Miss Molly - how can we already have a month of summer behind us?! I'm trying not to think about it, but as I see the backpacks moving into the space where the outdoor furniture used to be, I can't help it. Last week was a total blur, the more accustomed to summer we become, the fast the days and weeks seem to fly by! I don't even much remember much what I did - some projects, some errands, some chores, lots of swimming (as the temps are now regularly 100 deg.) - oh, and I sold a lot of furniture and stuff on Craigslist this week - that was a plus. Then the Snyders (Mark & Karen & kids) got here on Wednesday night, so Thursday we got to see them, Friday was the 4th, Saturday we had to take the car in so we went to Boise in the morning, went to Owen's birthday party in the afternoon, and more swimming. Sunday was kind our downtime day. This week I plan to work a little more on Carolina's room, more chores (of course, blahhh), swim a lot, and get ready for our little vacation with my family to Salt Lake City on Friday!! Yay for getting out of town!
Our Independance Day was very fun - the Curtis', Snyders (plus Josh), Millers, Knights, plus us McConnel's were there. We BBQed and ate lots of delicious sides and desserts, swam a ton, chatted, played basketball, made s'mores, and shot of LOTS of fireworks! Carolina told me a few days later, "We had a fun party Mom... good food, swimmin', and FIREWORKS!" She sounds so grown up lately. But she loved the fireworks, and when we would see more fireworks at Disneyland (since she keeps asking for them), she was pretty pumped. Here's some pics from our holiday!
Target run first... you know...
It's tradition.

Uncle Grant getting the fire started for s'mores.
Impromptu basketball game.
Matching niece and auntie.
Telling Uncle Pat all about the s'mores.
Someone had marshmallow all over her by the time s'mores were said and done.

Is there anything better?
Brad is Carolina's new favorite person - it was absolutely adorable watching the two of them - Brad is so good with her

Big kid with a sparkler
Liam loved having the boys here to play with

Hope you had a Happy Independence Day!
