Zoo Boise

We had a nice 3-day weekend. It seemed like we weren't all that busy (with the weather being cloudy, rainy, generally bleh), and yet I don't get the impression I'm relaxed or rested. We did some hanging out with the family, some errands, lots of house-cleaning, shopping... but yesterday we went to the zoo first thing in the morning while the sun was still shining, although chilly. Liam was happy about it, but Carolina was ecstatic - she chattered up a storm when we got there about seeing "anmals" and she'd point to nothing and say "I see mo-key - ooh ah ah!" She was verrry excited for the monkeys and giraffes. It turned out to be an excellent day to visit the zoo, not as busy as we would've thought it would be on the holiday and tons of animals were out and active. The monkeys were swinging and howling, we witnessed a zebra fight, the prairie dogs were all over the place, geese and goslings were out wandering around the walkways, the giraffes were eating and drinking, the lions and tiger and bear were right up close to the window, the baby serval was adorable and was quite proud of an (unfortunate) bird he had caught. Once Lina had a taste of being down from the stroller, and free of hand-holding for a bit, she was a *bit* hard to control, and Liam did his fair share of complaining about being hungry - good thing the Zoo isn't all that big, or expensive, because we were definitely done by the time we were done. Ahh, children, we had to get some Chick-fil-A to put everyone in a better mood.  :) Before/in between upsets I got some pretty great pictures:
Big girl, climbing on the toys (and sporting the BEST pigtails)!
Spying on meerkats.
Liam enjoyed the (pretend dragon) - P.S. how big is this kid getting?!
We fed the sloth bear (through the PVC pipe you can see), so he stuck nice and close.

Turtle power!
She had to hug and kiss (ew) all the penguins.
